We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. America, this is our moment. For we have a choice in this country. Make America Great Again! I'm inspired by the love people have for their children and this country.

We need change. We may come from different places and have different stories, but we share common hopes, and one very American dream. Nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change. We are a people of improbable hope. The audacity of hope! In distilled form, though, the explanations of both the right and the left have become mirror images of each other. We need change. The audacity of hope! The audacity of hope! We are a people of improbable hope.

Education dollars should be redirected to give parents the right to send their children to the public, private, charter, magnet, religious or home school of their choice, and bring education supervision to local communities.

When I graduated from high school, there was an emphasis on vocational and technical education, and two- and four-year colleges were more affordable. Career and technical education is needed to provide a foundation of skills that enable high school students to be gainfully employed after graduation–either full-time or while continuing their education or training.

Shelby County, Tennessee has suffered from our students graduating from the University of Memphis, Rhodes, Christian Brothers University, Lemoyne Owens and other prominent colleges, and after graduation, are forced to move to another city in order to find employment. When they move, parents are separated from their children and future grandchildren. Shelby County suffers as a result of the brain drain. There is a solution to this problem, but the current leadership does not know or even care to address it. As a mother and a grandmother, I have seen and spoken to parents who try to suppress their tears when they resign themselves to the fact that their college graduates must move to another city and/or state in order to find a job.  I believe very strongly that  young people should not be forced to leave their home towns, but they should be allowed to choose whether it is necessary to separate from their families or not. I will work with our legislators to ensure that Shelby County is a place where our young people's skills are needed, appreciated and rewarded.

Real education for real people

We are a people of remarkable hope. Yes, we can seize our future, and together we can Make America Great Again!
